Portrait of HP

Years ago, while leafing through a book of over 200 portraits curated to represent humanity in all its richness, I noticed something striking. Despite the incredible breadth of subjects—people of colour, redheads, entrepreneurs, LGBTQ+ individuals, artists, bakers, sex workers, newborns, the elderly, and many more—one group was conspicuously missing.

Not a single image captured those of us who dedicate our lives, day in and day out, to building the world from within corporate environments. Millions of us, and yet… not one face in the book.

That absence sparked a question in me. Where are our stories? Where is the documentary photography that speaks to our experiences, our resilience, our humanity?

And so, Portrait of HP was born—a documentary photography initiative rooted in the HP UK&I community, designed to visualise the power of inclusion and the essence of belonging within the corporate world.

The aims are ambitious yet simple:

•To make visible the extraordinary diversity of talent at HP UK&I

•To amplify employee voices through authentic storytelling

•To spark honest conversations around difficult topics

•And to empower and engage our people through the universal language of   photography

Through Portrait of HP, we do more than document—we express emotion, share purpose, and reflect the passions and causes that drive us to become the world’s most sustainable and just technology company.

We don’t only show our humanity—we hold it up against our technology. In doing so, we reflect on both the power it gives us and the challenges it presents for our communities, today and tomorrow.

What began as a single idea has grown organically—first through the support of HP UK&I's top leadership, and then through the enthusiasm and trust of our employees and even our business partners.

At the heart of this project lies a simple truth: images have the power to bring people closer, to inspire change, and to create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued and heard.

Portrait of HP is not just about photography—it is about honouring the everyday stories that shape our company, our culture, and our collective future.
