The first photograph is a simple selfie taken while I’ve been in Mexico… and yes, the light always shifts depending on the country you’re in. The other two are small treasures I found among the photographs my uncles once left behind. And although I do miss them, what I truly hold is gratitude — for all the good times we shared together.

The first photograph is a simple selfie taken while I’ve been in Mexico… and yes, the light always shifts depending on the country you’re in. The other two are small treasures I found among the photographs my uncles once left behind. And although I do miss them, what I truly hold is gratitude — for all the good times we shared together.

As a photographer, I often find myself walking alone, simply because I want to contemplate the street. To observe the stories that unfold, or rather the characters and places that spark the imagination of a story yet to be told.

With every image, how many different narratives could we create? At times, I like to imagine what my life would be like if I stepped into another character: if I lived in that building, if I rode a horse, if I had to cross a crumbling wall just to be with my partner, or if I drove a lorry spilling black smoke as it thundered down the road.

Perhaps that is where my need to write comes from: to give weight to words as much as to images, to let text and photograph exist together — not as mirrors, but as companions — in telling what I see, what I feel, and what I imagine.

✨ Wednesday of Portraits ✨

After some weeks in Mexico, I return with renewed energy and a busy agenda ahead.

I’m excited to share that at the Global Hispanic Latino BRG we are already preparing for Hispanic Latino Heritage Month 2025, which will take place from 15 September to 15 October.

Soon, I’ll be telling you more about the inspiring conversations we’ll be hosting during this celebration.

For now, I’d like to show you the campaign image that will represent our HLHM communications this year — a photograph I created myself. 📷

It features a tiger warrior mask, used in the” Porrazo de Tigres”, a pre-Hispanic ritual dance from Guerrero, Mexico. These masks symbolise the sacred jaguar and the union between humanity and nature. At the same time, the contemporary clothing reflects how our heritage and present are constantly woven together.

This year, our celebrations will not only honour our roots, but also explore the Future of Work, and how our heritage can shape it.

None of this would be possible without the incredible Global BRG team: Chio, Natalia, Eli, and Frank. 🙌

Yet returning to the UK also brings a smile — all the more so when my son was telling me everything he wanted to do, and all the food he couldn’t wait to eat, from curry to jacket potatoes. In the end, it’s a gift to belong here and there at the same time.

As we say back home, "a darle que es mole de olla"… and soon I’ll be sharing some new projects we’ve been preparing!

As I’ve mentioned, I’ve been organising my archive… and I came across this photo I took a year ago. Back then, it felt like just another shot — but now, I really like it.

It reminded me of what Graciela Iturbide says: there are two decisive moments — the first, as Cartier-Bresson said, when you take the photo; and the second, when you rediscover and select it.

Little by little, I’m starting to get it.

This is a photograph I’ve always been drawn to.

I took it just over seven years ago, and the person at the centre — well, he’s someone I love deeply (something many might know, though I rarely say it aloud).

The image also speaks of music and how it runs through the life of our family.

All kinds of music — from many places, many rhythms — but there’s something particularly powerful when it comes to son guerrerense.

It’s in those moments that everything seems to come into focus.

When I was a child, I used to spend hours looking through my dad’s camera.
Not taking photos — just looking.
I’d notice how everything changed depending on where I stood.
Back then, I didn’t know it was called composition — I just knew that with each small shift, the frame told a different story.
And I’d wonder which version I would have captured, had I taken the shot.

Later I learnt about timing — that precise moment when you press the shutter and something unrepeatable happens.
These days, digital cameras make it easy to shoot in bursts, and the discipline of timing can get lost.
But often, I find that the first frame is still the one I like the most. (Phew — maybe I’ve not lost that instinct yet.)

And well, while going through my archive, I found this.
The first photo — of Don José Luis (the first person who ever called me “Señor Fotógrafo” when I was just six) — holds a certain mystery, a weight.
Less than a second later, in the second frame… that feeling vanishes.

Something’s been flirting with me — a project of sorts (though I’m not quite sure what it is yet). All I know is… it’s in colour.

Today, UK&I officially published Issue 22 of Portrait of HP: Dreams!

“…this issue of Portrait of HP explores the theme of Dreams. My inspiration came from “Mapa de los sueños latinoamericanos”, a moving documentary photography project by the Argentine artist Martín Weber. In it, he travelled across Latin America asking underrepresented communities to write their dreams on a chalkboard.

I know I’ve only managed to capture a few grains of this rich, universal theme. But I wanted to carry that idea forward and ask a similar question — not to those on the margins this time, but to a new generation: those stepping for the first time into corporate life, into IT, into a leading global company — and doing so in one of the most developed countries on Earth, whatever that may mean.

Instead of chalk and board, I asked them to write their dreams on a Next Gen AI PC. In the pages that follow, you’ll see what they shared.”

Today, UK&I officially published Issue 22 of Portrait of HP: Dreams!

“…this issue of Portrait of HP explores the theme of Dreams. As a documentary photographer, I often find myself chasing moments that whisper something deeper — something human. And today, I’m thrilled to share that the 22nd issue of Portrait of HP is nearly ready: “Dreams” — a special edition dedicated entirely to the HP UK&I Interns, Generation 2024–2025.

This time, the spotlight is shared. Because dreams, after all, are more powerful when they’re collective.

The cover features the immensely talented Toluwani Opayemi — someone I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with through the HP UK&I Inclusion BRG. Her energy, thoughtfulness and spirit truly represent the values and creativity this generation of interns brings to our company.

This issue is a tribute to all of them — their aspirations, their voices, and the fresh lens through which they’re seeing the world of tech, business and belonging.

A small glimpse into the opening lines:

“I remember it vividly. It was the early 2000s when I first joined HP — in Mexico. I was greeted with warmth, the kind that makes a stranger feel instantly at home. Friendships blossomed quickly. I found myself at the very forefront of technology, astonished by its magic, and slowly began to understand what it truly meant to do business in a company of HP’s scale.

Something that struck me — and has remained with me ever since — was the sheer number of people who had already dedicated decades of their lives to HP. It was hard to miss, not least because many of them would tease me with the classic line: “You weren’t even born when I started working at HP.”

As I worked on this 22nd issue of Portrait of HP, I chose not to bring up that joke — it would’ve cast me as Uncle Roddy straight away. But I held it close, because in many ways, it became the spark of a quiet curiosity: how do the new generations experience those first steps into working life — particularly within the IT industry, and more specifically, at HP?”

I know—life moves fast. Many are already in Wimbledon mode or waiting for OASIS in Manchester (WOW!).

But I’m still taking a moment to reflect and close this powerful visual series from London Pride.

This image, taken at Trafalgar Square, has many layers:

You can feel the joy and unity of the team. You can see the scale of participation from HP and Intel. And yes, having such an iconic backdrop definitely adds weight.

But what I love most is the energy and presence of Vanita Kalidas. 💙

Her spirit is unstoppable—her passion, infectious. She’s the kind of leader who moves things forward by showing up, lifting others, and reminding us all why visibility and inclusion matter.

14:10 at the Roosevelt Memorial — that was our meeting point before marching in London Pride 2025.

I arrived on time, and a few colleagues were already there, sharing smiles, laughter, and the excitement of the day ahead.

It was that special moment — the one where you start to become part of the celebration: putting on our HP + Intel t-shirts, collecting our wristbands, applying sunscreen (yes, even under a deeply overcast London sky), adding glitter, colour, and joy to our faces.

That’s where I saw Jaclyn MacLeod — it had been a long time! It brought me real joy to spend time with her again. I immediately remembered those first days when I had just moved to the UK. Jaclyn, -along with Margaret (Mags) McKay and Filiz Clark- were incredibly supportive — they always made me feel part of the team.

They used to talk to me about all sorts of things... and to be honest, back then I barely understood what they were saying. But I understood something more important: that I belonged.

Now, over a decade later, I feel proud to still be here — with HP UK&I — and to see how, together, we’ve managed to uphold and grow a culture where people matter, and inclusion is not a statement, but something we live.

This weekend, HP + Intel proudly joined the London Pride 2025 celebrations! 🌈

It’s the second time we’ve taken part – and once again, it’s been an incredible experience.

As a documentary photographer and HP employee, I’m always drawn to those powerful moments where energy, openness and community spirit come alive. That’s exactly what I saw (and felt) during the parade.

So this week, I’m doing something special: rather than just my usual Wednesday of Portraits, I’ll be sharing a photo each day to celebrate the people behind the movement.

📸 And I’m starting with this portrait of @robynjoygriffin – someone who brought pure joy, passion and authenticity throughout the entire parade. I believe this frame captured just 1/250 of a second of hours filled with dancing, singing and vibrant energy!

Yesterday I had the privilege of joining —camera in hand— a truly powerful session: “In Conversation with @ellamorganc ”, organised by the UK&I Pride BRG and beautifully hosted by Jack Hinchliffe.

Between framing moments and catching expressions, a few reflections stayed with me — I’ll paraphrase, as I was behind the lens, not taking notes:

🔹 The courage to be yourself.
We often grow up torn between the need to belong and the desire to be authentic. Over time, it’s authenticity that draws us into deeper, more meaningful connections.

🔹 The role of education.
Understanding others isn’t only the responsibility of those who live with difference, but also of those willing to approach with curiosity and respect. It’s a shared act.

🔹 The power of small gestures.
Wearing a lanyard, starting a conversation, showing interest — these seemingly simple acts can be the beginning of real change.

🔹 Dialogue needs more than good will: it needs a safe space.
From what I’ve seen, senior leaders help to create the conditions, but it’s every single one of us who truly makes that space real. 💙
